Dwarf
From Grimmwold
Dwarves are a PvP Friendly Race: Players who seriously dislike PvP should consider another race.
(Please keep in mind that this is Player Submitted Fiction!)
Hello!
Sooo your interested in playing a Dwarf on Grimmwold? Well, we don't officially have a Dwarven race here. So why is there a wiki page for it you ask? Well, there IS a way to play a dwarf here, and have fun doing it, as long as your willing to work with a loophole in the system.
Basically, if you are willing to play a dreamer who is human in the Kingdom, and is just DREAMING himself into Grimmwold as a Dwarf your fine. We've had quite a few players do this, and be well accepted in the RP community.
As long as you understand:
- You wont get unique PLAYER dwarven housing, or a dwarven PLAYER town. (However there is a very small NPC Dwarven village with a wall, mines, and a few NPC shops and houses, you can RP hanging out in.)
- There is ONE building in the NPC Dwarven town reserved for a guild, i.e. a group of dwarven players playing together. It isn't very big, and you'd still need to be a member of another town to craft, but it's available.
- We don't have a dwarven paper doll or any other custom items
Then please feel free to RP that your a dwarf, we'd be happy to have you. If we actually end up with a lot of dwarves, we will obviously make efforts to accomodate them beyond the above restrictions.

Role Play Information
- Remember that we are a fairy tale shard, so our dwarves are going to be more like the dwarves of mythology and fairy tale then Tolkien or War Craft.
- I found this webpage to be a very nice and simple write up for those looking for some type of RP guideline.
- Please note there is no approved RP guidelines for Dwarven Dreamers. Each player has the right to develop their personal role-play, as they see fit. At some point, an approved fiction may be adopted.

Introduction
As you may have heard there be some Dwarven Dreamers around these parts. We don’t know much about those Native Dwarves in Bromere as they ain’t decided to speak to us yet, but we have a pretty good idea of who we might be. And so since you be asking, I’ll tell you what I know of us Dreamer Dwarves that is. Much of what I tell you know I know from my travels and what can be reasoned from the book Grimmwold.
Physical Traits
We are a short and stocky races of humanoids. We rarely scrape 5 feet tall, and many dwarfs are much shorter than that, perhaps no more than 3 feet tall. Though small of stature we have a sturdy muscular frame, broad shoulders, and thick fingers. Our skin is also slightly wrinkled giving us an aged and wizened appearance with crows feet at the corners of our eyes and laugh lines at the corners of our mouths. We dress in simple, utilitarian clothing that usually includes a pair of sturdy boots and a hood the color of which usually indicates what group we belong to.
Other than our height the most distinguishing feature on a male dwarf is his beard. It’s been proposed that Dwarf women as well as men, have beards, though most Dreamer Dwarf women have none. Many would say “Dwarfs are their beards”, thus they tend to keep them very long. We Dwarfs take a great pride in our beards and may take precautions to keep them from getting wet, and dirty. < br> We also may show a disdain if not outright hatred for sunlight which is likely related to the amount of time we spend underground.
Habits and Personality Traits
We believe that we are a race belonging of Lord Forge and Lady Loom for their only outward trait that stands in contrast to Forge and Loom’s other children, the giants, is our size. As with other giants we are known for our crafts and our ability to find treasure within the earth. We also display a similar irritation toward outsiders and are incredibly secretive. We are known to be honor bound and even the most vile of the black dwarfs has never been known to go back on his word. We have a reputation for being tenacious and each dwarf’s way of doing things is different they rarely back down from a fight when their honor is at stake.
While Dwarfs are not recounted as great witches or wizards Dwarf ‘magic’ is legendary. In days gone by metallurgy itself was a mystical art form and those that knew how to turn copper and tin into brass, copper and zinc into bronze, and iron into steel were held as great magicians amongst mortal men. Still Dwarfs’ magic goes further still and the things that they have produced have abilities awakened in them beyond what can be accomplished with a mundane art, and Dwarfs produce magical items of great power.
Dwarf types
There are different types of Dwarfs. One of the things that distinguishes us is our h air color. Gold Dwarfs have yellow hair that ranges from strawberry blond to platinum blond, the Black Dwarfs have hair of black and dark gray, the Brown Dwarfs have brown hair of every shade, and the White Dwarfs have hair of silver and white. Skin color also varies slightly from clan to clan. The Brown Dwarfs, and Golden Dwarfs have tanned and bronzed skin, the White Dwarf’s skin is very pale, and the skin of the Black Dwarfs has a pallid, grayish, and sickly appearance.
Gold Dwarfs-We are considered the most approachable of the Dwarfish types. We do not use magic as much as the rest of our kin, but we pride ourselves at mundane crafts of all types especially the crafting of weapons and armor, the weaving of fine cloth, and the brewing of spirits. We love our craft only second to our love of gold. For we style ourselves off of the Grimmwold stories of King Hreidmar and his sons Fafnir, Reign, and Ort who lived in a golden castle We may seem to be merely greedy to outsiders, but a sage versed in the laws of Grimmwold will note, ‘That all that is gold glitters.’ This is not to say that we are immune to greed for it is a fine line we tread as was the case of Hreimar’s son Fafnir whose lust for gold turned him into a vile dragon.
The Black Dwarfs- In many fairy tales there is mention of wicked dwarfs like Rumplestiltskin who make deals with a mortal who has trouble living up to their end of the bargain. These a re the dwarfs that Black Dwarfs take after. Unlike the Gold Dwarfs we value our craft even more than gold and seek only to protect it. We are called ‘black’ not just because of our black hair and black clothing, but also our dark demeanor. We don’t care for the social bonds that other dwarfs keep with one another. In fact we may not even care for other black dwarfs. Some of the greatest weapons of legend are said to have been created by dwarfs like us called The Sons of Ivaldi. We wish to be like those dwarfs in stories who great heroes and immortals turn to when they need an item of exceptional quality. For this reason we are loath to part with anything they create especially if it is something of lesser value. We try to be cunning and may play cruel tricks on humans and other creatures. When we do part with our crafts we will always place a heavy price put upon them, and debts to us usually consist of more than gold (think of Rumplestiltskin who demanded a first born son), and we will keep a record of that which is owed to us that rivals that of even a gremlin.
The Brown Dwarfs- Of all the Dwarfs we may use of magic the most. We spend our time mining in the brown earth for ore and gems, or chopping down trees for lumber. We do craft, but our actual craftsmanship may not be as aesthetically pleasing as that of our kin, but we weave magic into everything and we make such items as boots of speed, cloaks of shadows all=2 0of which help us to do what they are most famous for and that is to hide from others. We try to keep at least one, if not all of these items, close and safe at all times. We are the tricksters of the Dwarfish world and style ourselves on the tales of knockers and other similar mine dwellers.
The White Dwarfs- We value duty and the virtues before all else. We pride ourselves also on our battle prowess. We despise the lazy, cowards, cheats, and thieves. Like the dwarfs that Rip Van Winkle met on a summer’s night we may even teach these useless louts a lesson. We do not make ourselves known for exceptional craftsmanship or use of magic though our gear is always of exceptional quality and may be magical in nature. Unlike the Black Dwarfs we will do a good turn for any honest person we meet without any thought of personal gain. There are few truly honest and generous dwarfs in stories but we seek to emulate those that tales are told of such as Alviss whose name means ‘wise one’ or Dwarfs who were given duties by the gods which they will carry out till the end of time.
Living Quarters
For now we spend our time in Bromere, the home of those Native Dwarfs who do not speak to us. We have found kinship with the Trow, other Giant-kin dreamers in their home of Nifol. Perhaps some day we may be welcomed into the great halls of Bromere deep within the mountain, and if NOT! Then by Forges Beard we shall carve our own home!
