From the Desk of Corliss Argal Chancellor Briar Hollow
To Aubrey Dagdarian Headmaster The Most Illuminated Cabal of Ancient and Esoteric Magical and Sorcerous Training at Briar Hollow
To help simplfy things as far as Millicent, I have a letter from her actually to forward to you Headmaster. For the MCD, I am of course happy to assit with any investigation far as I am able to, I thank you for the kind notice of such.
Here is her letter *a neatly written page is followed behind this one*
My dear friend, Monsieur Corliss;
Please feel free to pass on to the Academic Headmaster, the kind Monsieur Aubrey Dagdarian, the following of my qualificiations, as well as my earnest agreement should he wish to question me upon any relevant topics.
At the age of four, my mother passed on, and I moved in with my Oncle Julian Ambroise, who was a trained philosopher and physicist, was thaumaturgist and alchemist for the estate of le Duc St. Pierre, in the Kingdom.
From the age of four, I was taught reading, writing and mathematics, hidden and against beau ideal, not to mention any desires of le seigneur du manoir, and began a lifetime of both study and servitude to my Oncle, as his student, until the time of his death.
I am versed and adept in the following subjects, any of which I would be happy to prove my worth upon:
Literature Mathematics Botany, Herbalism and Alchemy Occultism and Spirituality Philosophy and Metaphysics Astronomy, as well as Astrology Physical Sciences, including Medicine and the newly growing field of Psychology, which threatens to overtake the superstitious beliefs of the peasantry one day, I am sure!
I have an interest in the new Mechanics as well, which is my hobby, since the discovery of ballistic powders, and enjoy toying with various puzzles and tinkering with handicrafts.
My weaknesses include a lack of education in Relgious Lore, as my Oncle was a scientist, and not a man of the Church.
Since my inception into the dream world of Grimmwold, I have continued studiously applying my education, sharing with others, as well as seeking out further and further answers to the amazing questions which arise here. I have taken up Wizardry, and easily learned the basics, partly from an education upon first arriving, in your lovely Academy, but also from philosophical studies with various and sundry others who have offered their help. Unfortunately I have declined any offers into other cabals or covens, because I belief that education belongs to all, and do not wish to "sell my soul" for suggested glory or power.
I gave lectures on this new medical science of psychology at the dockside theatre in Hamelin, at the behest of others, upon my arrival. This was roundly accepted and applauded by my peers, at the time. And for a time I held sway over le asile de quart, which you would call "Carfax Asylum", in Hamelin, until my husband's potential initiation into leadership of the town, when I thought the two interests may conflict, and chose to support my husband, rather than my own venture. As well, the home I had purchased for the asylum was less than secure, allowing a dangerous inmate (whom had been put there by Briar Hollow's own guarda for everyone's safety) had escaped during the night. Seeing this potential danger, I closed the institution down.
If you have any further inquiry, please do not hesitate to message me by post. I would be glad, at any time, to see you and discuss things as you will.
Sincerely;
Madame Millicent Nahilo
