This is a quick list of ideas pulled from other staffers, previous events run by players, and off the top of my head. Feel free to add to this if you come up with an idea of your own! (Or if you run an event that was successful and think it would be a good thing for other players to do).


Warrior Events

Teach aspiring warriors
Sparring events
Patrols
Quest ? defending the city or forming a town guard
Crafting events dealing with armor and weapons


Tradesman/Crafter Events

Caravan or make a delivery through a dangerous area
Stitch and bitch
Crafting contest
Resource gathering as a group
Making a certain (rp-ed) item that requires multiple people to help build it
Trade fairs


Witch/Wizard Events

Wardings (Hearth Fire, personal house, any place really)
The coven gatherings are a great rp resource
Rp that there was a curse/spell cast on you (or a pet, or an object in your house), and you need help figuring out a counter-spell
Rp that you dropped a potion in Briar Fountain but have no idea what effects it will have


Troubador Events

Poetry/Song contests
Make a quartet and perform! Have a concert.
Storytelling


Tamer Events

You spot a rare creature and want help finding it
One of your pets gets sick and you need help healing it
Pet adoption event (Give away pets you don?t use, get exotic ones)
Have a pet start causing trouble around town for an unknown reason
Have a zoo or circus event with every kind of animal you can find


General

Costume party
Housewarming party
Tavern nights
Storytelling around the fire
Triathlon ? Grimmwold style!
Scavenger hunts
White Elephant party (find some random buried stuff in your bank and put it in a gift box, and everyone picks a random gift, but no peeking until everyone has a gift! It?s always a surprise what people come up with)
Paintball
Faint in the middle of town, see what happens!
Try to teach a group of people a foreign language - Goblin, Zanzi, cat...anything!
In fact, try to teach a group about -anything- that you know about. Mythology, science (keep it medieval!), how to avoid a bear attack...
Towns that don't get along well - make a group and spy on each other

A few I've seen or done:

Murder Mysteries (rp within rp i've seen this done about 1ce a month and it is always fun)

Kidnapping (always seems a popular rp event. you or someone you know gets kidnapped)

Hunting/Fishing competitions

Cook offs (feast and vote on best dishes)

the Wildest bunch (disguise yourselves and put the city guard to the test and rp crazy things like eyes glowing or throwing empty wine bottles or run around naked in the crafthalls drinking. i've seen all sorts and it's always funny)

Philosophy Meetings (talk philosophy and the meaning of life and happenings)

Event planning groups (call people together to help plan future events or parties or just get ideas or ask someone else to host an event for you)

Riddle me this (leave a few clues at places and lead people on a journey searching for something like gold or a treasured item.  or you could do real riddles around a camp fire like briar has done in the past at it's hearth.)

Fashion Shows (seem to be very popular lately)

Decorating events (best garden, best house, best shop awards for people who register. form a commity and judge the topic places and see who is best and award them)

Newbie Help Events (have a dinner or something so the old members can meet the newer members and share advice or answer questions and such. usually less newer people show up than older members but there is always something to talk about)

Bath house events are popular.
Dinner and swimming at the hotsprings

Game nights (a bunch of chess, checkers, bad gammon games where everyone plays. i used to do this weekly)

Picnics anywhere away from town

Beach parties (rp beach volleyball or swimming and stuff)

Shop Openings/house warming is popular
